Overview

As part of the SAP rebranding process, I was invited by the BTP colleagues to redesign the app icons for the SAP Mobile Services Suit.

I started with the SAP Mobile Cards and achieved great result. Then, together with the BTP colleagues, we took a holistic view of all the other applications, of their functionality and interconnectivity. And with the SAP new Fiori Design System in mind, a suits of brand new Fiori icons were emerged. With each shape conveys what the app does, all of them fit perfectly into the big SAP app family.

SAP Mobile Cards is a mobile application that allows users to create, deploy, and manage interactive cards on mobile devices. These cards can contain various types of content, such as text, images, videos, charts, and interactive buttons. The app is designed to help organizations deliver relevant and contextual information to their employees, customers, or partners in a visually appealing and user-friendly format.

The shape of the icon captures the essences of its functionality and ways of interaction: Pushing information to user in cards format.

SAP Mobile Services Client is an application that allows developers to create, test, deploy and update mobile application without going through the app stores from different platform. It allows developers to deploy application on both Apple and Android devices with just one build.

The shape of the icon captures its cross-platform characteristic and the way of interaction between mobile and desktop devices throughout the application lifecycle.

SAP BTP SDK is an application that allows developers to create, test, deploy and update mobile application without going through app stores. Developers can use it to build for either Apple or Android devices. It is closely connected to the SAP Mobile Services Client but without the cross-platform character. Nevertheless, it provides more options inside a single developing environment.

The shape of the icon captures its versatile function and the way of interaction between mobile and desktop devices.

While the shape of the icons demonstrate the different characteristics of the individual app, these two icons also create a visual connection between the SAP Mobile Services Client and SAP BTP SDK app, which are function-wise related.
